FG announces temporary closure of Lagos-Calabar coastal highway

The federal government has announced the temporary closure of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday to facilitate scheduled construction works.
Olufemi Dare, the Federal Controller of Works for Lagos State, confirmed the closure in a statement, inviting stakeholders, contractors and other parties to a press conference and a stakeholders engagement on Sunday to provide updates on the Coastal Highway project.
“The Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway shall be closed temporarily from 10:am to 4:00pm to enable us to execute some works at the interchanges. This serves to invite all concerned stakeholders around these projects, consultants, contractors and Lagos State Government officials,” the statement said.
According to Mr Dare, the engagement will include discussions on the service lanes and secondary drainage systems along the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, the inauguration of the Coastal Road Guards to protect the corridor, and the flag-off of repair works on Eko Bridge, Marine Bridge, and section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
“The Federal Government through the Federal Ministry of Works and the National Assembly Committees on Works shall hold a press conference and stakeholders engagement on the following projects:
“1. Lagos Calabar Coastal Highway(Service lanes and secondary drainages). This is in line with the presidential directive to construct service lanes and other hydraulic infrastructures to assist residents within the Lagos Calabar Coastal highway- Sections 1 and 2.
“2. Inauguration of the Coastal Road Guards for the protection of Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway infrastructures. 3. Flag-off of the repair works on the Eko Bridge, Marine Bridge and the flooded section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway,” the statement added.
