Minister of Budget and Economic Planning Abubakar Bagudu has called for result-oriented collaboration between Nigeria and Germany to help Nigeria realise its $1 trillion economy target by 2030.

Mr Bagudu made the call during a courtesy visit by the delegation of the Giessen Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK Giessen-Friedberg) of Germany to his office in Abuja on Wednesday.

He said Nigeria’s partnerships must move beyond ceremonial exchanges toward measurable outcomes that directly improve lives, strengthen institutions, and foster inclusive growth across key sectors of the nation’s economy.

“We are committed to shifting from process to progress, from meetings to measurable results. What matters most to this administration is impact,” Bagudu said.

He added that partnerships should translate into job creation, enterprise growth, and tangible development outcomes for Nigerians, not just diplomatic or symbolic engagements between governments and business communities.

The minister commended the German delegation for fostering a results-oriented relationship with Nigeria, describing Germany’s expertise in vocational education and industrial innovation as critical to Nigeria’s sustainable development goals.

Bagudu explained that President Bola Tinubu’s administration prioritised international cooperation based on reciprocity, institutional strengthening, and shared long-term value creation rather than one-sided aid or goodwill from partner nations.

“Our partnerships must be mutually beneficial, rooted in shared accountability and strategic results.

“We want collaboration that turns our national development plan into tangible, measurable outcomes,” Mr Bagudu stated.

He highlighted that structured and legal migration remained part of the government’s broader strategy to transform Nigeria’s population advantage into economic benefits and globally competitive human capital.

“We must transform Nigeria’s youthful population into productive capital. Through initiatives like this, we are not just exporting labour but skill, knowledge, and global competitiveness,” the minister said.

Mr Bagudu said the forthcoming 2026–2030 national development plan would institutionalise such international partnerships to advance human capital development, trade facilitation, and innovation-driven economic growth.

He emphasised that the Tinubu administration was deliberate about charting Nigeria’s economic trajectory, aiming to position the country as a hub for talent, productivity, and responsible global collaboration.

“That is the spirit of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, building partnerships that create lasting prosperity for Nigerians and reinforce our credibility among development partners,” Mr Bagudu added.

Matthias Leder, Chief Executive Officer of IHK Giessen-Friedberg, commended Nigeria for its sustained engagement with Germany and expressed readiness to deepen cooperation in enterprise development and structured migration.

Mr Leder also invited Mr Bagudu to deliver the African keynote address at the World Meets in Giessen conference scheduled for June 2026, a major global business platform hosting participants worldwide.
