The Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to President Bola Tinubu on Protocol, Issa Niniola, says the federal government is not sleeping over the spate of insecurity in the country.

Mr Niniola stated this on the sidelines of the 27th Oba-Oke Day celebration in the Olorunda Local Government Area of Osun.

“Insecurity in the country is worrisome and has become a front-burner issue, so you can be sure the federal government is not sleeping on it at all,” said Mr Niniola.

Stating that insecurity had become an international concern, he assured that Mr Tinubu’s government would tackle the menace “frontally.”

“What the government has done so far may seem little in the eyes of some people, but that is not true because insecurity is not something that can be solved in a day or two.

“We all know the genesis of insecurity in the country, and when it starts, it takes time to curtail it. The federal government is doing a lot to address it,” he said.

Mr Niniola also said the federal government would continue to collaborate with other countries to tackle insecurity.

The SSA also said other governments and the world were recently collaborating and showing concern about terrorism in the country.

“Most of these terrorists, ISIS, ISWAP, and others, are coming from the Sahel into Nigeria, making insecurity intractable, but I can assure Nigerians that very soon it will be a thing of the past,” he said.

Mr Niniola, who also spoke on the August 8 governorship election in the state, expressed confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, would emerge victorious.
