FG restates commitment to reduce poverty, unemployment

The federal government has reaffirmed its commitment to poverty reduction, job creation and economic revitalisation in the country.
The Minister of Trade and Investment, Doris Uzoka-Anite, stated this when she led a delegation visiting Governor Abba Yusuf on Thursday in Kano.
She said the federal government would continue to focus on growing the economy and reducing poverty.
The minister reiterated the commitment of President Bola Tinubu’s administration to poverty reduction and economic revitalisation.
According to her, Mr Tinubu’s administration strategically focuses on job creation, capital accessibility, economic growth and poverty eradication to revamp the economy.
She said the federal government would always maintain its determination to protect businesses in the country.
Mrs Uzoka-Anite said that in line with the eight-point agenda of Mr Tinubu’s administration, the ministry worked assiduously to ensure that industries were revived.
She said the purpose of her visit to Kano was to assess the level of industrialisation and gather data on the challenges that needed urgent attention geared towards reviving industrial development.
Mrs Uzoka-Anite maintained that the ministry was committed to enhancing the export of value-added products so that comparative advantages would be explored.
Responding, the governor, represented by his chief of staff, Shehu Sagagi, said his administration was committed to enhancing small-scale industry.
He described the state as a commercial nerve centre of sub-Saharan Africa.
Mr Yusuf appealed for more support from the federal government to boost commercial activities in the state.
Earlier, the state Commissioner for Commerce, Abbas Sani-Abbas, said his ministry had gathered commercial data to redesign the state’s commercial policy.
