FG seals Ekiti warehouse selling expired goods with fake labels, barcodes

The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has sealed a warehouse in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State, for allegedly selling expired and deceptively labelled goods with fake barcodes.
The FCCPC disclosed this in a statement on its official X handle. It said its operatives busted the warehouse on Thursday, following intelligence reports.
The FCCPC said it took action to protect consumers in Ado-Ekiti, noting that “following intelligence reports, our operatives raided a warehouse suspected of selling harmful products, including vegetable oils, cereals, and other fast-moving consumer goods.”
During the raid, the agency found evidence of “expired goods still on the shelves, deceptive labels on products, fake barcodes, repackaged, potentially unsafe products.”
“The warehouse is now sealed, and the owners along with a supplier are being investigated. Appropriate enforcement actions will follow,” it added.
The FCCPC expressed its resolve to remain vigilant in protecting consumers and ensuring a fair marketplace in the country.
