FG trains 86 automotive technicians in Gombe to fix tricycles, motorcycles

The federal government has trained 86 automotive technicians in Gombe state on the repair and maintenance of tricycles and motorcycles.
Carried out in collaboration with SIMBA Group, the FG says it also plans to establish an automotive training centre in the state to empower technicians in the Northeast.
Jelani Aliyu, the Director-General, National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), stated this at the closing of the training on Friday in Gombe.
Mr Aliyu said the training was an intervention to develop capacities in the repair and maintenance of tricycles and motorcycles.
According to him, the training was in response to the call to address the rising cases of accidents involving tricycles, motorcycles and other vehicles.
Mr Aliyu said the latest technological trend in automobile repair and maintenance was used to conduct the training, which has already been hosted in Abuja and Kaduna.
He said no fewer than 5,000 people had benefited from the training since it began in 2012.
Earlier, Nua Omisanya, the Director of Industrial Infrastructure Department, NADDC, said the council would establish an automotive training centre in the state.
Mr Omisanya said part of the mandate of NADDC was to continually train technicians in the repair and maintenance of motorcycles and tricycles, so as to mitigate crashes.
