Organisers of the eighth Kaduna International Film Festival have urged the Kaduna government to reintroduce the Ministry for Arts and Culture, which served as a tool of social transformation.

In 2019, former Governor Nasir El-Rufa’i issued an executive order restructuring the ministries, including the abolition of the Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Culture, under which culture previously fell.

It was replaced by the Ministry of Human Services and Social Development, effectively reducing the status of culture to a department within a broader portfolio.
