Finland’s inflation weakened in February to its lowest level since late 2021 due to a milder rise in the average interest rate on housing loans and consumer credits.

This was disclosed in a statement by Statistics Finland on Thursday.

Consumer price inflation softened to three per cent from 3.3 per cent in January.

That was the lowest rate since September 2021, when inflation was 2.5 per cent.

The month-on-month change in consumer prices was 0.5 per cent, largely caused by higher prices of district heat and package international holidays.

Prices had increased 0.3 per cent in January.

Core inflation that excluded prices of food and energy came in at 4.9 per cent.

The Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices gained 1.1 per cent on year in February, the same rate as seen in January.
