Fire destroys four shops in Ibadan

No fewer than four shops were completely razed by fire in the early hours of Friday, around Saki Garage, opposite Trans Amusement Park, Bodija in Ibadan.
It was gathered that the fire affected four out of 11 shops in the area.
The chairman of Oyo State Fire Services Agency, Maroof Akinwande, confirmed the incident in a statement on Friday.
Mr Akinwande said the agency got a distress call about the fire incident through a telephone call from one Lateef, an Amotekun personnel from the Bodija Division, at 2:07 a.m. on Friday.
He said the fire personnel, led by ACFS Adedeji, immediately deployed to the fire scene.
The chairman stated that upon arrival, the firefighters found four out of 11 shops engulfed in flames and promptly took action to extinguish the fire.
Mr Akinwande said the agency’s personnel effectively prevented the fire from spreading to adjacent shops and buildings, adding that no casualties were recorded in the incident.
He advised the public to always be mindful of fire safety, just as he emphasised the importance of saving the fire service emergency number in their cell phones.
“Every household should endeavour to install fire extinguishers in their respective buildings in order to keep safe from imminent fire incidents,” he said.
