The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu has mourned the death of Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, saying “the late Oba stood as a symbol of tradition, stability, and progress”.

In a message issued in Abuja on Monday, Mrs Tinubu commiserated with the governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, the late king’s family members and the entire people of Ijebuland on the transition of the king.

She described the monarch as a great king whose wisdom, dignity, and dedication to his people and the rich heritage of the Ijebu Kingdom would be etched on the annals of history.

Mrs Tinubu stated, “His 65 years reign was a testament to his visionary leadership, marked by an astute understanding of his people’s needs and commitment to their well-being. He was a bridge between generations, embracing tradition with progressive thinking for the development of his people.’’

She further extended heartfelt condolences to the king’s beloved Oloris, the children and the entire royal family and the Council of Chiefs.

She stated, “As a daughter of the land, I feel your grief and it is shared by all Nigerians who revered and respected our beloved Awujale. May the Almighty Allah grant Oba Adetona peaceful repose in the embrace of his ancestors, and grant comfort to his family, and all his subjects.’’
