Fishermen rescue man who jumped into Lagos lagoon from Third Mainland Bridge

Fishermen, on Tuesday, rescued a yet-to-be-identified man who reportedly attempted suicide by jumping into the Lagos Lagoon from the Third Mainland Bridge.
The viral video was shared on Instagram on Wednesday by Isaac Fayose, with the caption, “Please, check on your family and friends. This just happened today. Who knows what went wrong.”
The video showed a man in the background saying he saw him park his vehicle on the bridge, leave his phones in it before jumping into the lagoon, adding that he went to the office of the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency in Iyana-Iworo to call officials to come and rescue him.
With some LASTMA officials having arrived at the scene, the victim was later seen in the video in a canoe being paddled to shore by a fisherman.
After Peoples Gazette sent the video of the incident to LASTMA spokesperson, Adebayo Taofiq, on Wednesday, he said, “I was just told now that it happened yesterday. But it’s not LASTMA that rescued him. It’s the fishermen that rescued him.”
