Five dead, one injured in accident on Ife-Ilesa highway: FRSC

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Osun Sector Command, has confirmed the death of five persons in an accident that occurred on the Ife-Ilesa highway on Saturday.
This is contained in a statement by the state FRSC spokesperson, Agnes Ogungbemi, in Osogbo.
Ms Ogungbemi said the accident resulted from reckless driving.
She explained that the accident occurred when a private Toyota Hilux with number plate FKJ 691 HZ had a head-on collision with an articulated vehicle.
Ms Ogungbemi disclosed that the accident involved nine passengers: six male adults, two female adults and a child.
She said five of the passengers died in the accident, one was injured, and three were rescued unhurt.
“The only injured passenger has been taken to an undisclosed hospital, while the bodies of the deceased have been deposited at a morgue.
“The accident occurred due to road traffic violation and disobedience to road traffic regulations,” she said.
Ms Ogungbemi said items recovered at the scene of the accident were handed over to the family members of the victims in the presence of the police officers.
