Five men arraigned for allegedly constituting public nuisance

The police, on Wednesday, arraigned five men before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly constituting a public nuisance.
The defendants Kabiru Abdullahi, 25; Muritala Abdullahi, 23; Abdullahi Lawani, 20; Mubarak Muhammed, 24; and Ibrahim Shaibu, 25, are facing a charge of constituting public nuisance.
They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against them.
The prosecutor, Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on February 2 at about 05:30 a.m. at Atikankan Area in Ado-Ekiti.
He alleged that the defendants conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace by constituting a public nuisance.
Mr Oriyomi alleged that the defendants were arrested while disturbing the peace of the neighbourhood.
According to him, the offence contravened Section 181(1)(d) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
The prosecutor asked the court for adjournment to enable him to study the case file and present his witnesses.
Counsel to the defendants, Oluwafemi Alabi, urged the court to grant them bail, with a promise that they would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Abayomi Adeosun, granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N50,000 with one surety each in like sum.
He adjourned the case until March 2 for hearing.
