Five missing mountain climbers found dead on Mt. Dhaulagiri
Five Russian climbers who went missing on Sunday while descending from Mount Dhaulagiri were found dead on Tuesday.
A search team located the Russians at an altitude of 7,100 meters of the peak, the world’s seventh tallest at 8,167 meters located in Nepal.
Managing Director of the IAM Trekking and Expeditions, which was managing the Russians’ expedition, Funuru Sherpa, said “while the five were found dead, one has been rescued.”
He told the Chinese News Agency (Xinhua) that the deceased were found in the same location.
Sherpa noted that a total of 14 Russians attempted to climb Mount Dhaulagiri, and eight of them had already descended after a successful ascent.
He noted that the dead climbers last communicated with their countrymen on Sunday.
