FLASH: PDP secretariat in Cross River stripped under police supervision

The secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Calabar, Cross River State is currently being stripped of its flags and other insignia under the supervision of armed policemen.
Cross River Watch reports that the caretaker committee chairman of the party, Ntufam Inok Edim, is on the scene, stating that the building ought to serve another purpose.
The building has been stripped of the party’s flags, and was being repainted with green and white colors. The report notes about 50 police officers in unmarked pickup trucks, blocking access to the roads around the secretariat stationed along the Murtala Muhammed highway.
The development comes a day after the state governor, Ben Ayade, announced his defection from the PDP in favour of the ruling APC in the presence of the six APC governors who visited him at the Government House.
The spokesperson for the police in Cross River DSP Irene Ugbo said an official statement will be available over the matter later.
