Flooding kills 18 in Kenya

At least 18 people have been confirmed dead in Kenya due to heavy rainfall that triggered flooding and landslides in several regions.

In a statement on Sunday, the Kenyan Police said landslides were reported in Thraka Nithi, Elegeyo-Marakwe and Kiambu.

“The National Police Service has confirmed the loss of 18 lives as a result of these incidents, underscoring the grave danger posed by the ongoing weather conditions,” the police said.

It noted that central and eastern Kenya were affected by the disaster that ravaged the country.
