Flydubai: Facebook’s ‘Nigeria Islamic Revolution’ urges Muslims to train as pilots for terrorism

After a Flydubai co-pilot, Hamam Al Hammami, stabbed a flight captain in an attempt to crash an Israel-bound flight, the Facebook page, Nigeria Islamic Revolution, charged Muslims to acquire piloting skills as a means of carrying out terrorist attacks.
In February 2012, a Nigerian, Umar Abdulmutallab, the so-called “underwear bomber,” was sentenced to life in prison for his role in the attempted Christmas Day 2009 bombing of Northwest Airlines Flight 253.
The Facebook page with 7,800 followers made the call on Friday, two days after the Flydubai incident.
“My fellow Muslim youths, go and learn to become pilots. It is the easiest way to put tears in the eyes of our enemies,” the Facebook account owner stated.
The page’s post encouraging the use of planes to carry out terrorist attacks has garnered more than a thousand reactions and hundreds of shares.
Although the account owner described himself as a “lover of Prophet Muhammad”, fighting Islamophobia and opposing violence and extremism, its timeline contains several extremist views, with one post stating, “We eat from the Christians, collect their money, receive food from them. We will still deal with them because they are infidels.
”
Meta, Facebook’s parent company, has been contacted for comment.
Meanwhile, investigations continue into Mr Al Hammami’s attempt to crash a Flydubai plane carrying 170 passengers from Dubai to Israel on Wednesday.
UAE authorities confirmed that Mr Al Hammami, who stabbed the plane’s captain, Smit Machchar, while attempting to crash a plane carrying 170 passengers, had planned to carry out a terrorist attack.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Thursday that preliminary investigations established that Mr Al-Hammani had undergone Islamist radical indoctrination.
