The Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria has assured customers and stakeholders that its operations remain unaffected despite the fire incident that damaged parts of its headquarters over the weekend.

The bank, in a statement on Monday from the group head of corporate communications, Joe Abuku, said the fire broke out on the second floor of its head office on Saturday night but was swiftly contained.

According to Mr Abuku, the incident resulted in damage to office furniture, equipment and appliances in the affected area.

“The fire was successfully contained and prevented from spreading to other parts of the building. While there have been some damages to office furniture, equipment and appliances in the affected areas, we are grateful to report that official documents that were affected are securely backed up electronically, with cloud storage.

“This is thanks to technology. Investigations and evaluations to establish the cause of the fire are still ongoing,” he said.

He added that despite the incident, the bank had put measures in place to ensure that normal operations continued without significant disruption.

“The office remains open for normal business, and customers can continue to access the bank’s services as usual,” he said.

He commended the prompt intervention of the Federal Fire Service and the police, members of staff and other stakeholders whose coordinated response helped bring the situation under control and prevent further damage.

”We will continue to keep the public informed as investigations progress and more details become available,” Mr Abuku assured.
