Food, drinks, music mark second day of #EndBadGovernance protest in Lagos

Day two of the #EndBadGovernance protest in Lagos was a carnival-like atmosphere, with protesters being fed and entertained with music amid tight security.
Individuals and groups from several parts of the state, as of 8 a.m., marched to the Gani Fawehinmi Park, chanting solidarity and anti-government songs to express their displeasure at the hunger and high cost of living in the country.
Despite light rain showers in the morning and the sunny afternoon, the resolute protesters, carrying placards with anti-government inscriptions, marched along the lane of the Ikorodu Express Road directly beside the park.
While some of the protesting groups shared snacks, food, and drinks with the protesters, operatives of the Lagos State Police Command weren’t left behind as they also distributed sachets of water.
The Commissioner of Police, Adegoke Fayose, during the protest, told journalists that protesters refused to enter the park due to fear of ambush by hoodlums but acknowledged that the protest had been peaceful.
He said, “This is the park area, they’re not entering the park because of fear. We’re neutral. We’re just going to make sure that no hoodlum comes.”
“So far, it’s been very peaceful. All that we need to do is to manage the road in Ojota to make sure that protesters have their day and do what they want to do,” he added.
