Former Ghanaian President Jerry Rawlings dies from coronavirus

Mr. Rawlings passed on Thursday at a teaching hospital in the capital Accra.

Former Ghanaian President Jerry John Rawlings has died. He was 73.

Ghana’s Citi Newsroom cited family sources as confirming that Mr. Rawlings died on Thursday morning at a teaching hospital in the capital Accra.

Mr. Rawlings assumed power through a bloody military coup in 1979. He subsequently transitioned to a head of state and later as president.
