Former NUJ national secretary Ogunlusi dies at 91

A former national secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Jola Ogunlusi, has died, his family announced on Saturday in Lagos.
A statement by Gbenga Aruleba, a family representative, said Mr Ogunlusi passed away in the early hours of Saturday at 91, following a brief illness.
Mr Aruleba said “Papa Jola,” as he was fondly called, lived a fulfilled life devoted to serving humanity and God.
“From his days as a journalist in the 1970s to becoming NUJ national secretary, he exemplified dedication and fairness,” he said.
Mr Aruleba noted Mr Ogunlusi’s strong commitment to equity, justice, and sincerity in all his duties.
He described him as kind, loving, and caring toward family, colleagues, acquaintances, and the wider public.
The family representative said burial plans are underway and requested prayers, condolences, and support during this difficult period.
