At least one person has died on Wednesday and over 100 were wounded after another wave of explosions rocked the wireless devices held by Hezbollah members in Lebanon, according to the nation’s health ministry.

Solar energy systems and walkie-talkies were among the wireless devices that exploded on Wednesday. Multiple blasts were heard in many homes in Sohmor, a town in the Beqaa valley and also in Baalbek.

The explosions came a day after hundreds of pagers detonated on Tuesday in what appeared to be a coordinated technical attack against Hezbollah members, leading to 12 fatalities and about 2700 persons injured.

Lebanon’s Red Cross said 30 ambulances were sent to different parts across Lebanon in response to distress calls from the explosions.

The Associated Press disclosed that its reporters were at a funeral in Beirut to bury four fatalities from Tuesday’s pager blasts when they heard “multiple explosions at the site.”

Lebanon had accused Israel of being behind the attack and its foreign minister Abdallah Bou Habib had vowed retaliation.

“If Israel thinks by this that they’re going to return their displaced people from the north of Israel, they are mistaken. This escalated this war,” New York Times cited Mr Bou Habib as saying on Tuesday. “Hezbollah are definitely going to retaliate in a big way. How? Where? I don’t know.”

Israeli authorities have yet to issue any statement to affirm or deny behind the explosions.

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk criticised the explosions and called it a violation of international human rights.

Mr Türk said in a statement, “Simultaneous targeting of thousands of individuals, whether civilians or members of armed groups, without knowledge of who was in possession of the targeted devices, their location and their surroundings at the time of the attack, violates international human rights law.’’
