FRSC begins operation zero-tolerance, deploys 1,107 operatives in Kaduna
The Federal Road Safety Corps says it has begun ‘Operation Zero-Tolerance’ by deploying 1,107 personnel and special marshals across Kaduna.
The Kaduna sector commander, Kabir Nadabo, said on Monday in Kaduna that the operation began on December 15 and would end on January 15, 2025.
Mr Nadabo said, “The operation is in line with FRSC Headquarters directives. Various strategies have been birthed to ensure successful road traffic crashes and free yuletide festivities.”
He said the command has deployed staffers of regular and special marshals across the state.
Also, 39 patrol vehicles, including eight ambulances, were deployed for effective patrol and rescue operations, including two heavy-duty trucks were deployed for prompt obstruction clearance on the highway.
“As you all know, Kaduna state links the North to the South, and therefore, a huge volume of traffic is expected. This is particularly from the said date until the second week of January 2025, when the volume would have normalised.
“Consequently, major critical routes such as the Kaduna-Abuja, Kaduna-Zaria-Kano, Kaduna-Birnin Gwari, Kaduna-Saminaka-Jos, and Kaduna-Kachia-Kafanchan roads are our focus.
”They have all been adequately manned by trained operatives to ensure that travellers reach their destinations safely,“ Mr Nadabo said.
He also disclosed that the command and all formations across the state would visit motor parks daily to sensitise and caution motorists against unethical road behaviours and the importance of safe driving.
He decried recent public behaviours and assaults against operatives of FRSC.
Mr Nadabo commended the support of the state government and its unwavering commitment to road safety ideals by providing an enabling working environment.
