The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has deployed a high-level tactical team to the A.Y.A.-Nyanya Expressway following a series of disturbing road accidents along the corridor.

FRSC Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, made this known in a statement by the Acting Corps Public Education Officer (ACPEO), Felicia Kalu, on Wednesday in Abuja.

Mr Mohammed said that the team was led by the Assistant Corps Marshal (ACM), Operations, Olusegun Ogungbemide.

According to him, the team is mandated to conduct a comprehensive on-the-spot assessment of the factors responsible for the recurring crashes and recommend swift, evidence-based remedial measures.

The FRSC boss said that the intervention underscored the corps’ commitment to proactive road safety management, intelligence-driven enforcement, and the protection of lives and property.

He said that the FRSC was focused on taking anticipatory steps to identify systemic risks, eliminate hazards, and strengthen its operational presence on critical routes, rather than reacting after tragedies occur.

“The A.Y.A-Nyanya corridor, being a major gateway into the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) requires strategic attention. The deployment of the tactical team reflects a zero-tolerance stance against preventable road crashes,” the corps marshal said.

He said that the initiative formed part of the ongoing Eid-el-Fitr special patrol operations aimed at ensuring seamless traffic flow, reducing travel time, and promoting safer journeys for millions of Nigerians during the festive period.

The FRSC boss explained that by integrating tactical investigation with intensified patrols, the corps was reinforcing its dual strategy of enforcement and prevention, while delivering real-time solutions to emerging road safety challenges.

Mr Mohammed also stressed that road safety remained a shared responsibility, urging all road users, including drivers, commuters, and pedestrians, to cooperate fully with the tactical team and adhere strictly to traffic regulations.

He assured the motoring public that the FRSC would continue to evolve innovative strategies, deploy resources strategically, and respond swiftly to emerging threats to public safety.
