FRSC hands over N1.12 million recovered from accident scene to victim’s family

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has handed over the sum of N1.12 million recovered from a fatal road crash scene to the family of a deceased victim, reaffirming its commitment to transparency, accountability, and professionalism.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Corps Public Education Officer (CPEO), Osondu Ohaeri, on Monday in Abuja.
Ms Ohaeri said that the crash occurred on April 11 at Idu village along the Gegu–Abaji route in Abuja, involving a Toyota Corolla with registration number GWP418CV and a Volkswagen Golf with registration number RBC220DG.
He said the driver of the Volkswagen Golf, Aliyu Bala, sustained critical injuries in the crash and was later confirmed dead at the hospital despite efforts to save his life.
“The FRSC Zebra Team, during rescue operations at the scene, recovered the sum of N1.12 million alongside other personal valuables, which were carefully documented in line with standard operational procedures.
“The recovered money was officially handed over at a solemn ceremony held at the Command on April 20.
“The deceased’s elder brother, Mr Bala Yakubu, received the funds on behalf of the family in the presence of witnesses, N. Yusuf and Aminu Mahmud Maku.
“The handover was conducted by the Acting Unit Commander, Chief Route Commander (CRC), Ojonugwa Ejah, alongside other principal officers of the Command.”
Reacting, the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, described the gesture as a testament to the corps’ strong commitment to integrity, ethical conduct, and public trust.
Mr Mohammed extended the condolences of the management and staff of the Corps to the bereaved family and prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased’s soul.
