The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has inaugurated eight blocks of four two-bedroom apartments and four one-bedroom semi-detached bungalow quarters, reaffirming its commitment to personnel welfare.

The quarters were inaugurated by FRSC Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed on Thursday in Nasarawa State.

Mr Mohammed described the completion of the project as another major milestone in the FRSC’s commitment to improving the welfare of its personnel through affordable and sustainable housing schemes.

He said the estate was more than just a physical structure but a demonstration of commitment to the welfare, dignity and future of FRSC personnel.

He said the importance of personnel welfare prompted the establishment and approval of the FRSC Housing 2025 – 2030 Strategic Roadmap.

“The roadmap is repositioning the housing scheme into a sustainable institution through initiatives such as the proposed FRSC Staff Housing (FSH) mortgage bank. Also, FSH facility, Estate Management Limited and FSH construction and technical company.

“It also includes the progressive mortgage scheme and acquisition of massive lands in Kaduna, Ekiti, Gombe, Adamawa and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and more are to come,” he said.

He listed other successes recorded, such as the digitisation of operations, the introduction of innovative housing and investment products, and strengthened governance to restore members’ confidence.

“Our vision extends even further in the coming months. We shall commence new estate developments in Orozo and Bwari, expand land acquisition to Mowe in Ogun and deepen partnerships with reputable developers.

“We will, through collaboration with the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, also deliver 1,400 affordable housing units across the six geopolitical zones and the FCT under a rent-to-own arrangement,” he said.

Mr Mohammed said housing remained one of the greatest investments in the welfare and productivity of any workforce.

According to him, a secure home gives every officer greater peace of mind, stability and motivation to serve the nation diligently.

He called on the new homeowners to preserve the estate as a peaceful, orderly and thriving community.

The corps marshal also urged all FRSC personnel yet to join the housing scheme to take advantage of the numerous opportunities available.

In his remarks, the chairman of Karu Local Government, Abubakar Madaki, applauded the corps marshal and the FRSC on the successful completion of the quarters.

Mr Madaki, represented by the deputy chairman, Ibrahim Bulus, pledged continuous cooperation with the FRSC and unwavering support to the commission.
