The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has advised motorists plying the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway to be patient and comply strictly with traffic regulations amid heavy traffic volume.

The Lagos State Sector Commander, Kehinde Hamzat, gave the advice in a statement on Tuesday.

Mr Hamzat said the advice was necessary due to increased movements and heightened commercial activities on the expressway, particularly on the Kara–OPIC axis.

“The most affected areas include Kara–OPIC and adjoining sections of the expressway, both inward and outward of Lagos.

“To ease traffic flow, the FRSC advises motorists travelling through the Lagos–Sagamu–Ore–Benin corridor to consider alternative routes such as the Lekki–Epe Expressway and Ikorodu–Sagamu Road where necessary.

“Motorists on the Apapa–Badagry Expressway should remain patient, avoid dangerous overtaking and speeding, and cooperate with traffic and security personnel deployed along the corridor,” he said.

Mr Hamzat said that more than 700 FRSC operatives had been deployed to traffic-prone areas across Lagos State for effective traffic control, enforcement, rescue services and public enlightenment.

He urged road users to maintain lane discipline, avoid ‘one-way’ driving, ensure roadworthiness of their vehicles, and prioritise safety at all times.

“The command wishes residents and travellers a peaceful Eid-el-Kabir celebration, while cautioning against acts that could endanger lives. Drive responsibly, arrive alive,” he said.
