The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says it will ensure thorough investigation on the recent truck fire outbreak along the Eleme axis of the East-West Road in Rivers.

The sector commander, Rivers, Christopher Kuje, stated this in an interview with the journalists in Port Harcourt on Monday.

Mr Kuje said that the corps was already gathering facts about the incident in order to avoid future occurrences.

”We have been working tirelessly since that fire outbreak. We worked with other relevant agencies to extinguish the fire.

”Investigation has already begun on the incident to enable us to arrive at ways of avoiding similar occurrences in the future.

”l believe that at the end, we will find out ways of enthroning sanity on that axis of the East-West road.

”That road is currently under construction; that is perhaps the reason the construction company opened only one lane to traffic,” he said.

Mr Kuje said that no fewer than 60 vehicles destroyed in the inferno had been evacuated and the remains of four persons that died in the incident deposited at the morgue

”We have created a diversion to Oyibo in order to ensure traffic flow; we have also assigned our officers to be on duty there,” he said.

The commander urged motorists to obey traffic rules and to exercise patience while driving in the interest of their safety and that of others.

Mr Kuje pledged the commitment of FRSC personnel to ensure effective traffic control along the East-West road and other roads in the state.
