The Federal Road Safety Corps corps marshal, Dauda Ali-Biu, has urged FRSC operatives to interact with motorists and pedestrians based on professionalism and respect to ensure effective service delivery.

On Wednesday, Mr Ali-Biu gave the advice during the first quarter corps marshal’s strategy session with commanding officers in Abuja.

He said the corps interactions with motorists and pedestrians should be characterised by professionalism and respect.

He said this should be seen around the purpose of humanity and empathy.

According to him, building trust and fostering positive relationships with our communities is essential to our success in ensuring effective service delivery across the country.

On Wednesday, Mr Ali-Biu gave the warning during the first quarter corps marshal’s strategy session with commanding officers in Abuja.

The FRSC boss, who cautioned personnel against unprofessionalism and corrupt practices, said the corps had observed instances of indiscipline among some corps operatives, which must be addressed effectively.

According to him, it is unacceptable for any corps member to engage in misconduct or display untoward behaviour that tarnishes the organisation’s reputation.

“We must hold ourselves to the highest standards of professionalism, working with globally acceptable ethics within the rule of law and integrity at all times.

“The rising incidence of bribery among operatives is a stain on our collective integrity.

“Corruption has no place within our ranks, and we must take decisive action to root out this scourge from our organisation. Let me be clear: any form of corruption will be met with swift and severe consequences,’’ FRSC boss said.

He said the perception of overzealousness and incivility towards members of the general public would also be addressed.

Mr Ali-Biu said, “Let me assure you that I am always moved and disturbed over the issues of knockdown of our patrol operatives while conducting their legitimate duties.

“This trend will be a thing of the past as we engage our various stakeholders and sister security agencies to stem the tides. This will bring those responsible for maiming and killing our operatives to face justice as a due recompense for their actions.

“I will not fold my arms and watch our operatives subjected to inhumane treatments while they judiciously carry out their duties,” he said.
