FRSC seeks zero auto crash on Ekiti roads during Christmas

The Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC) has reiterated its resolve to ensure zero carnage on roads in Ekiti during and after the Christmas holidays.
The area commander of RS8.2C2 (Obadorearea command of Ekiti), Samuel Adekolajo, said the resolve was in keeping with the mandate of the sector commander, Elijah Olusola.
Mr Adekolajo, who spoke at a special end-of-year sensitisation rally for members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Ikole-Ekiti on Sunday, advised the commercial drivers to obey traffic rules and regulations.
He also cautioned the drivers against overloading violations, defensive driving, safety helmets, vehicle maintenance, dangerous driving, and traffic light and lane discipline.
Earlier, the unit commander, RS8.26 Ikole-Ekiti unit command chief route commander Solomon Mama, raised serious concerns about the attitude of motorists around the Ikole axis toward general safety on the road.
Mr Mama warned on the need for attitudinal change and adopting best global practices to restore sanity on the highway.
He chided some drivers for lacking patience, exhibiting disregard for traffic regulations and flagrant disobedience to traffic control personnel on roads in the area.
Mama urged all relevant stakeholders to work with the command to reduce carnage on the country’s highways.
