FRSC to intensify enforcement on installation of speed limit devices

Ogun command of the Federal Road Safety Corps says it will set up special operations to check the recklessness of truck drivers.
Fasakin Akinwumi, the FRSC sector commander in Ogun, said on Monday in Ota that setting special operations would help minimise incessant cases of road crashes.
Mr Akinwumi spoke against the backdrop of the three separate accidents that claimed 25 lives in the state on Saturday.
He explained that six people lost their lives in the first crash on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, the second one claimed one on the Sagamu axis, while the third accident killed 18 persons at Gbaga on the Ikorodu-Sagamu road.
“The three road crashes were caused by the recklessness of truck drivers on the highways following disregard for the speed limit.
“However, the FRSC will intensify its enforcement, especially on the installation of speed limit devices for trucks and trailers, who are fond of flouting speed limit directives,” he assured.
The sector commander appealed to motorists to desist from speeding and wrongful overtaking to prevent avoidable road crashes.
