Fuel Price Hike: Four Kenyans killed, 30 injured, 348 arrested in nationwide protests
At least four people have been killed, over 30 injured and 348 arrested in Kenya fuel price protest on Monday.
Kenya Interior Minister, Kipchumba Murkomen, said four were killed in the nationwide protest that paralysed economic acitvities on Monday.
“We lost four Kenyans in today’s violence, which also saw more than 30 people injured,” Mr Murkomen said in televised press conference.
On Monday, major roads were blocked in Nairobi, leaving commutters heading to work stranded with some walking to work.
Amid shutdown of the Strait of Hormuz over lingering war between American and Iran, Kenyan Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (Epra) on Thursday increased fuel prices to 242 shillings ($1.8; £1.4) a litre for diesel and petrol to $1.65.
