Fuel tanker crushes commercial motorcycle rider in Niger

An unidentified dentified commercial motorcyclist (okada rider) died on Sunday following a collision involving two motorcycles in Sawmill district in the Mokwa Local Government Area of Niger State.
An eyewitness, Mohammed Shaba, told the Peoples Gazette that the incident occurred on Sunday when the two motorcycles collided, after which a fuel-laden tanker crushed one of the riders.
“Two Okada riders collided with each carrying passengers. Unfortunately, the fuel tanker was behind them and one okada rider was coming from Matrix fueling stations,” Mr Shaba told The Gazette.
“The collision occurred around Dangote’s garage in Sawmill. One of the Okada riders was crushed by the truck and another rider was rescued in the process”, Mr Shaba added.
He narrated that injured passengers were rescued, noting that Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) came to evacuate the dead body and injured passengers.
Contacted, the sector commander of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Niger State, Aishatu Sa’adatu, confirmed the incident to The Gazette in a telephone chat.
“The crash occurred at about 2:30 pm around the Matrix fueling station in Mokwa involving a DAF trailer (sic) and two motorcycles. Five (5) people are involved, four (4) injured and one killed,” Mrs Sa’adatu said.
She noted that the injured victims were rescued and taken to the General Hospital Mokwa.
