No fewer than 60 Nigerian athletes flying the nation’s flag at this summer’s Tokyo Olympics which officially kicked off on Friday.

No fewer than 60 Nigerian athletes flying the nation’s flag at this summer’s Tokyo Olympics which officially kicked off on Friday.

Nigeria will be participating in 10 Olympics sports with Athletics producing the largest contingent, followed by the male and female basketball teams.

The country will also feature in sports like rowing, table tennis, taekwondo and artistic gymnastics.

D’Tigers, Nigerian national basketball team, who had an impressive pre-olympics exhibition games after beating world power United States and Argentina, will be hoping to make it count when it matters most in Tokyo.

Team Nigeria will be looking to add to its 25 Olympics medals at the competitions so far.

Since her debut at the games in 1952, Nigeria only boast of winning three Gold, 10 Silver and 12 Bronze medals.

Team Nigeria performed poorly at the last two Olympics winning only one bronze medal at the Rio Olympics in 2016, and none at the 2012 Olympics in London.

Famous for its outstanding run at the 1996 Olympics games, the Nigerian male football team is believed to be one of the country’s most successful Olympics sides, holding one of the country’s three Olympics gold medals.

However, both male and female national football team will be missing out of action after failing to to scale through qualification.
