Furore over Fufore LGA forces INEC to order recompilation of results in Adamawa

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ordered the recompilation of election results in some parts of Fufore Local Government Area of Adamawa following widespread disruption of collations by political thugs.
The controversy sparked an uproar at the state collation centre in Yola on Sunday night, leaving the only local government, one of the largest voting enclaves in the state, outstanding.
Aishatu Ahmad Dahiru Ahmed, widely known as Binani, is widely expected to win the local government area, but controversy over the margin of victory has been the source of confrontation between the Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress.
APC politicians are insisting the initial results compiled for the local government area, which appeared to show Mrs Ahmed leading by a vast margin, must be accepted. The PDP rejected this, saying results actual results now being accepted by INEC matched the outcome viewable in the commission’s results viewing portal.
Mrs Ahmed is challenging incumbent PDP Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, who is seeking his second term of four years in office.
The resident electoral officer for the state Hudu Yunusa-Ari said the commission would only accept results that were properly submitted from the local government level.
Idi Hong, the PDP agent at the collation centre in Yola, had alleged widespread disruption and violent seizure of result sheets from Fufore.
Following the announcement of results in 20 of the state’s 21 local government areas, Mr Fintiri led Mrs Ahmed by a surmountable margin.
