Ganduje replaces chairman of Kano anti-corruption commission
Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano has appointed Mahmoud Balarabe as the acting chairman of Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission.
This is contained in a statement issued by the governor’s spokesman Abba Anwar on Thursday.
The statement said Mr Balarabe was, until the appointment, the director of public prosecution in Kano’s Ministry of Justice.
According to the statement, the appointment takes immediate effect.
Mr Ganduje advised the appointee to discharge his duties diligently and following laid down procedures establishing the commission.
The Kano House of Assembly had suspended the commission’s chairman, Muhuyi Magaji, on Monday for one month.
This followed a complaint against him by the state’s accountant general.
The complaint letter was sent to the house and read by the Speaker, Hamisu Chidari, at plenary.
The letter alleged that Mr Magaji appointed a Grade Level Four (GL4) officer as an accountant of the commission, contrary to the act establishing it.
