Qatar, Turkey and Iran have condemned Israel over the ongoing humanitarian crisis and military campaign in Gaza. 

During the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly at the UN headquarters in New York on Thursday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu blasted the trio for allegedly spreading lies and backing Hamas.

Mr Netanyahu accused Qatar of spending billions on U.S. universities and the Al Jazeera outlet to “brainwash young minds to hate Israel, hate America, hate the West.”

While hailing the destruction of Tehran’s nuclear facilities as “one of the easiest decisions” he made as a prime minister, Mr Netanyahu slammed the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for killing thousands of Kurds, illegally occupying northern Cyprus and jailing journalists.

“He [Erdogan] calls for Israel’s destruction every day. He says he will be the ruler of Jerusalem. No, sir, you won’t. It is our city,” he added.

However, the three countries rejected Mr Netanyahu’s allegations and accused him of committing genocide in Gaza.

“The international community does not tolerate listening to a morally bankrupt leader who is the subject of an arrest warrant for war crimes and crimes against humanity,” the representative of the Turkish mission to the UN, Ahmet Yıldız, said.

Mr Yildiz insisted that Türkiye would continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with the Palestinian people until a State of Palestine was established. 

Also, the second secretary of the Permanent Mission of the State of Qatar to the UN, Abdulaziz al Sulaiti, described Mr Netanyahu’s allegations as unfounded and undeserving of response.

“The escalatory rhetoric against Qatar and other countries cannot shift attention from Israel’s violations in the occupied Palestinian territory and their humanitarian repercussions. Such allegations are intended to shift global public opinion, particularly among young people,” Mr al Sulaiti noted.

Naser Asadi, the member of the Permanent Mission of Iran to the United Nations, also blasted the Israeli PM and the UN for giving him the platform to speak.

“The UN was not founded as a platform for war criminals. To commit genocide while claiming victimhood is a stark example of hypocrisy,” Mr Asadi noted. “Any aggression against Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity will be met with a devastating response.” 

The development came amid Israel’s military offensive in Gaza, forcing a UN commission and other world leaders to accuse Israel of genocide and crimes against humanity.
