Getting married is no joke, says Davido

Nigerian singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has shared his thoughts about marital life and cohabitation, describing the former “as no joke”.
In a recent interview on the Bootleg Kev podcast, Davido said marriage could not be compared to dating and cohabitation, as the former feels different.
He admitted that even though the transition into marriage with his wife Chioma Rowland, whom he lived with for eight years, was smooth, getting married is not a joke.
“The transition was smooth, but it’s different,” Davido said, referring to their years living together before tying the knot. “Getting married is no joke.”
The “Unavailable” crooner and his wife began their love journey as undergraduates at Babcock University in 2013 and cohabitated until their wedding in June 2024 in a lavish ceremony in Lagos.
“My partner and I have been living together for a long time prior to getting married. I met her in my third year in college, and I was lucky enough for us to move in together early—about eight years before we got married,” Davido said.
The Nigerian superstar also showered some praise on his wife for her consistent support over the years despite his demanding music career.
“Throughout the time we were living together, I was touring and really on the road. She always understood what I did for work, and she knows I’m at my happiest when I work. She knows I love music as she loves being in the kitchen,” he stated.
