Ghana, four other African countries qualify for 2026 World Cup

The Black Stars of Ghana booked their spot in the 2026 World Cup after defeating Comoros 1-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium in their last Group I game on Sunday.
With Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia, and Morocco already qualified for the World Cup, the win made Ghana the fifth African country to secure a spot in the forthcoming tournament.
Though needing just a point to qualify, a goal by Tottenham Hotspur forward Mohammed Kudus in the 47th minute saw Ghana cruise into the World Cup.
With Sunday’s win, Ghana garnered 25 points from their 10 Group I games, six clear of the Madagascar side.
In the 2010 edition of the World Cup, Ghana made it to the quarter-finals, losing to Uruguay in a penalty shootout.
