African countries are enhancing their global media presence including the Republic of Ghana in international communications via the TV BRICS International Media Network.

The country’s leading news agency, Ghana News Agency, will represent Ghana’s interests within the unified BRICS+ agenda, according to TV BRICS.

The partners have agreed to cooperate on content exchange, the creation of news and analytical media materials, and the development of industry professionals’ skills.

The agreement was signed by GNA General Manager Albert Owusu and TV BRICS CEO and Editor-in-Chief Janna Tolstikova.

Mr Owusu said, “This partnership with the TV BRICS International Media Network marks a significant step in expanding our global news footprint and strengthening South-South media cooperation.

“It creates new pathways for the exchange of credible, diverse, and development-focused content, while amplifying African perspectives within the global information space.

“We are confident that this collaboration will deepen mutual understanding among our audiences and enhance the capacity of both institutions to deliver impactful journalism.

“For the Ghana News Agency, it is a strategic investment in projecting Ghana’s voice, sharing African experiences, and building lasting media solidarity across continents.”

GNA is Ghana’s leading state news agency founded in 1957 with headquarters in Accra.

The organisation operates in English and specialises in socio-economic issues on the national and international agenda.

GNA plays a vital role in informing the country’s citizens, supporting democratic governance and representing Ghana’s voice in the African region and the global community.

Tolstikova noted that the strong presence of African countries on the international agenda contributes to business, trade and economic integration with the BRICS group.

Tolstikova said members already include South Africa, Egypt and Ethiopia, with Nigeria and Uganda as partners.

Ghana’s cooperation with the international media network will strengthen West Africa’s profile and support the development of economic diplomacy aimed at attracting investment and promoting the region’s exports to foreign markets.

Ghana has become the 34th country in the world to join the information exchange via TV BRICS and the ninth partner state of the media network in Africa.

Other African members include Egypt, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, Tunisia, Ethiopia, and South Africa.
