Ghanaian music stars take UK by storm at London O2 concert

In a sold-out concert at London’s O2’s Indigo venue at the weekend, charismatic rapper Medikal, known offstage as Samuel Adu Frimpong, led a lineup of top artistes, captivating the audience with an electrifying performance.
Medikal not only headlined the show but also played host, commanding the stage with multiple costume changes and electrifying performances of his chart-topping hits.
Joining Medikal onstage were guests, including Ghanaian musician and model Deborah Owusu-Bonsu known as Sister Derby and they performed their hit song ‘Risky’ which was released in 2017 when the two were dating.
Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie, recognised for his exceptional lyrical skills and significant influence on African hip hop and Ghanaian singer and producer Bisa Kdei were also there to perform.
A few media figures, such as digital creator BlacVolta, broadcaster Jay Foley, and YouTuber Kwadwo Sheldon, made a special trip from Ghana just to catch the show.
The atmosphere was electric as British-Ghanaian artist Headie One and football star Mohammed Kudus made surprise appearances, elevating the star-studded vibe.
Meanwhile, Ghanaian singer and actress Efya captivated the crowd with her incredible vocals, prompting fans to show their love in the traditional Afrobeats way by showering money on stage.
Yet, the most heartwarming moment arrived when Medikal his “mentor and friend,” Shatta Wale, before the dancehall legend’s performance.
As the concert reached the climax, emerging talent Jay Bahd took center stage, introducing his distinctive Ghanaian drill music style.
In a fitting finale, Medikal returned to the stage clad in all white, expressing his gratitude to both fellow musicians and the enthusiastic audience as he dropped to his knees amidst a shower of white confetti, the energy in the venue reached a fever pitch, capping off a night that will be fondly remembered by Ghanaians and music lovers alike.
