Ghana’s Partey joins Arsenal
Ghanaian midfielder, Thomas Partey, has joined Arsenal from Atletico Madrid.
The gunners completed Partey’s transfer from Atletico Madrid after meeting his £45m release clause on deadline day.
Partey, 27, had 188 appearances for the Spanish side, winning the Europa League and Super Cup in 2018.
Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta described Partey as a dynamic and intelligent midfielder who will be a good addition to the north London side, according to a statement on the club’s website.
“We have been watching Thomas for a while, so we’re now delighted to add such a high-quality player to our squad. He is a dynamic midfielder with great energy. He brings a lot of experience from a top club that has competed at the highest level in La Liga and the Champions League for several years’, Arteta said.
The coach also said Arsenal have been very impressed with Partey’s attitude and his approach to football.
“He’s an intelligent footballer and we’re looking forward to him integrating into our system and contributing to the progress we’re building at the moment at the club,” Arteta said.
“Thomas has all the right attributes to be a top player for Arsenal”, Arsenal technical director Edu said.
Partey’s successful transfer to the north London side would be a major boost for Arsenal that have been struggling in the Premier League.
