GIG Motors confirms mass abduction of Port Harcourt-bound passengers

God is Good Motors (GIGM) has confirmed the mass abduction of an undisclosed number of passengers who were travelling from Utako bus terminal in Abuja to Port Harcourt in Rivers State on Friday.
“We write with deep concern and compassion to the families, loved ones of our guests, and the general public regarding the unfortunate kidnapping incident involving our bus en route from Utako to Port Harcourt on October 11,” the statement said.
GIGM released a statement to confirm the incident around 8:00 p.m. on Saturday after several callouts on social media from families of the kidnapped passengers who criticised the travel company’s silence and demanded to speak with the bus driver, who was let go by the kidnappers.
All the passengers were kidnapped save for a nursing mother whose baby was wailing relentlessly, GIGM cited the driver’s account of the incident.
“We want to clarify that our captain, along with a woman whose baby was crying continuously at the scene, was released by the kidnappers,” the statement reads in part.
“Upon release, he immediately reported the incident to the anti-kidnapping unit in Port Harcourt at around 11:30 p.m. yesterday, accompanied by the same woman.”
The bus driver, according to the statement, “reported the incident to the anti-kidnapping unit in Port Harcourt at around 11:30 p.m.” on Friday in the company of the woman.
The bus company said the driver “has since remained with the police, fully cooperating with their investigation.”
The company said it was working with law enforcement units and remained committed to “ensuring every passenger returns home where they belong.”
