Grammy-winning Afrobeats singer Burna Boy is trending on the Internet following the emergence of a video that shows him humiliating concertgoers, who paid up to N3 million for complaining that he arrived late at a Lagos concert.

In video footage from the concert seen by Peoples Gazette, the self-acclaimed ‘African Giant’ was heard telling fans, “God punish una!” after the crowd booed him for arriving on stage seven hours after he was scheduled to perform.

Instead of apologising, Burna Boy declared that he only decided to attend the concert out of goodwill and that he would have gone home if not for pleas from upcoming Afrobeats sensation Seyi Vibez.

Burna Boy, born Damini Ogulu, was scheduled to perform on January 1 at his Loves Damini concert in Wonderland, Lagos, in a concert originally scheduled to hold from 6:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., but resulted in an unanticipated extension to the next day after the singer’s long-hour delay.

He accused the concertgoers of labelling him a murderer after a shooting incident between the singer and a newly-wedded couple at Obi Cubana’s club in Lagos last year and for mocking his mother for being Fela Kuti’s dancer before telling them, “God punish una!”

The incident has generated several reactions from netizens, most berating Burna Boy’s rude statement.
