Gombe govt. reiterates commitment to provision of basic social amenities for residents

Gov. Muhammad Yahaya of Gombe state has reiterated his administration’s commitment to continue to provide basic social amenities to his people.
Mr Yahaya gave the assurance while interacting with State House correspondents shortly after a meeting with Vice President Kashim Shettima at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Friday.
Gombe, Jigawa, Ekiti, Lagos and FCT have been identified as states with the best positive outlook in Nigeria for 2024, a pcl. State Performance Index (PSPI) shows.
The governor said that since his assumption of office, his administration has been working assiduously to enhance security in the state and boost food production.
”There is no magic about how we emerged as the best among our peers on the socio-economic index; there is no miracle, it is just commitment, hard work and dedication.
“Since I became Governor, I made sure that I maintain focus and a clear vision. We made sure we consistently monitored the progress of the State economically, vis-à-vis the needs of the people and the mood of the country.
”So all those things joined together, socio-economic development and every aspect of human development.
“I am very happy that the efforts we are making in Gombe are being recognised.
”We will remain focused and consistently continue to deliver on the needs of our people.”
On the rising cost of food items, he said it is not peculiar to Nigeria alone but to other parts of the world.
”But our own has its own peculiarities because of the insecurity that has bedevilled some of our states, especially in the North-West and East.
”But that, notwithstanding, we are making serious efforts to ensure that we restore normalcy, provide security and ensure that people return to their farms,” he said.
