The Gombe state government has approved N2.6 billion for the fire service and deputy governor’s office projects.

Usman Kallamu, commissioner for works, housing and transport, said this at the end of the State Executive Council meeting on Monday in Gombe.

He said the council approved N1.37 billion for the construction of a new deputy governor’s office and N1.275 billion for a modern fire service headquarters.

Mr Kallamu said the provision of a befitting fire service facility would enhance emergency response and disaster management in the state.

He said the project was designed to provide a permanent and well-equipped facility for the service, which has been operating from a temporary location for years.

“The establishment of a befitting fire service headquarters will enhance emergency response, safeguard lives and property, as well as boost overall urban safety.

“The new office will be part of the secretariat complex to provide adequate space and a more cohesive working environment for the deputy governor’s operations,” he said.

Mr. Kallamu said the project would strengthen the institutional structure and improve administrative efficiency to ensure better synergy between key government arms.

Meanwhile, Governor Inuwa Yahaya will present the 2026 budget proposal to the Gombe House of Assembly on Thursday.

Salihu Baba-Alkali, commissioner for budget and economic planning, said the SEC approved the draft estimate.

He said the proposal followed a series of citizens’ engagements and consultations conducted to ensure people’s priorities were captured in the fiscal plan.

“The draft budget reflects the collective aspirations of our citizens, in line with the vision and leadership style of Governor Inuwa Yahaya. It also incorporates deliberations and inputs from council members to align government spending with development needs,” he said.
