‘Gossip Girl’ actress Michelle Trachtenberg dies at 39

American actress Michelle Trachtenberg, known for her role as Georgina Sparks in the unrestrained series ‘Gossip Girl’, died at 39 on Tuesday.

American actress Michelle Trachtenberg, known for her role as Georgina Sparks in the unrestrained series ‘Gossip Girl’, died at 39 on Tuesday.

According to the New York Times, the New York police department said that they found Ms Trachtenberg unconscious and unresponsive in a Manhattan apartment after responding to a 911 call.

She was thereby pronounced dead by emergency medical workers.

Born on October 11, 1985, in New York City, she began her acting career at three, featuring in over 100 commercials before focusing on television roles.

In her early television roles, she featured in ‘The Adventures of Pete & Pete’ (1994-1996) and ‘All My Children’, gaining prominence with her lead role in the 1996 film ‘Harriet the Spy’.

Ms Trachtenberg’s career flourished with her portrayal of Dawn Summers, the younger sister of the titular character ‘Buffy’ in ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ (2000-2003).

Thereafter, she played Georgina Sparks in the popular series ‘Gossip Girl’ (2008-2012) as the manipulative character known for stirring up drama in the Upper East Side.
