Gov. Abiodun should demolish his Iperu house blocking Iperu-Ode Road before serving demolition notices on people’s residences: Gbenga Daniel

Former Ogun State governor, Gbenga Daniel, has disclosed that Governor Dapo Abiodun lacks the moral right to demolish anybody’s building, let alone that of the Ogun East senator.
In a press briefing at the hall of the Gateway Front Foundation, Sagamu, on Monday, Mr Daniel’s spokesperson, Steve Oliyide, said Mr Abiodun should start with his Iperu house obstructing the road, before serving demolition notices on other people’s houses.
The press conference followed Mr Abiodun’s alleged two demolition notices on August 8 and 11, 2025, served on Mr Daniel’s Sagamu private residence, The Asoludero Court, Conference Hotels Limited and its annexe.
Mr Oliyide said, “What about the house in Iperu that is on the highway, where is the set back? I want to see the contravention notice served on Prince Dapo Abiodun’s house in Iperu. I want to see the notice served on that house that is aborting a major highway in Iperu-Ode Road. If he has not served it, he has no moral obligation, responsibility to serve anybody notices again in Ogun State.”
Condemning the posting on same day of two notices: contravention and notices to quit, which had veiled threats warning people to move properties out of the place within three days, Mr Oliyide accused the governor of “trying to create confusion and chaos in the state,” describing the move as “a deliberate insult on the people of Ogun State.
“Where we are, incidentally, is the same hall where Prince Dapo Abiodun was actually endorsed in 2019. Perhaps, we thought maybe there’s a silent and subtle attempt to erase the history of that raising of hand.”
According to Mr Oliyide, the press briefing at the venue was to show journalists the facilities the state government “believed to have encroached or contravened” and to contradict the claim about an ongoing construction.
Acknowledging the right and power of government to post the notices, Mr Oliyide recalled the governor’s September 2023 midnight demolition of DATKEM plaza in Ijebu-Ode, owned by the senator’s wife, Olufunke Daniel, stating that the action was still, “a pain in the heart that we cannot afford to play, lie low or joke with such a subtle threat, while we think it is laughable.”
