Gov. Alia tasks new APC leadership on accountability, unity

Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue has charged the new leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at all levels to be accountable to the people and instil party cohesion.
Mr Alia gave the charge in a statement signed by his chief press secretary, Tersoo Kula, and made available to journalists in Makurdi.
The governor congratulated the national leader of the party, President Bola Tinubu, for conducting a successful national convention.
He expressed optimism that, given the cooperation exhibited by party supporters for seamless congresses, the party would continue to record huge success.
“The amicable ratification of all proceedings leading to the convention, from the ward, local government, state, and zonal congresses, accentuates the strength, unity, and internal democracy of our great party.
“This achievement is an expression of conviction to purposeful leadership and a shared commitment to progress,” he said.
The governor also congratulated the national chairman of the party, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and all other affirmed party officials across the various levels on their emergence as substantive leaders of the party.
He charged them to justify the confidence reposed in them by party members and remain steadfast in upholding the integrity, discipline, and sanctity of their offices.
Mr Alia also urged them to work diligently to strengthen party cohesion and advance the ideals of the APC.
The governor stated that the expectations of Nigerians and party faithful were high.
“I am confident that under your collective leadership, the party will continue to grow stronger and deliver on its mandate,” he said.
