Governor Umaru Bago has cautioned candidates for the House of Representatives and Senate not to assume they have won the main elections.

Mr Bago made the remarks in Minna on Tuesday night while congratulating the All Progressives Congress’ candidates shortly after the returning officer announced the primary election results.

He stressed that the flag bearers should reach out to aspirants who stepped down and those they contested against, in the spirit of sportsmanship.

“Doing this will build a stronger party. It is important to work as a team,” he said.

The governor commended the APC electoral committee for smoothly conducting the National Assembly primaries in Niger.

He also praised those who agreed to consensus, saying it made the committee’s work easier.

Mr Bago thanked the electoral committee and other APC stakeholders in the state for their commitment and hard work, which according to him, ensured a successful exercise.
